What it is
Two-Factor Auth
Two-factor authentication asks for a second proof after the password, usually a code from an app on your phone, before the control panel opens.
A leaked or guessed password is then not enough on its own. SSL still encrypts the session in the browser. 2FA is what protects the login that starts that session.

Why it matters
Control-panel passwords leak from reused logins, phishing, and shared workstations. Without a second factor, whoever has the password can open email, the file manager, restore, and DNS.
2FA is listed with SSL and backups because encryption, login proof, and a restore point cover different failures. SSL does not stop a stolen password. Backups do not stop the next login. 2FA is the gate.
