Varnish, Memcached, and Redis
The two larger shared plans include one Varnish, one Memcached, and one Redis instance. On the smaller plans they are optional add-ons.
What it is
Varnish, Memcached, and Redis
Varnish, Memcached, and Redis are caching services that run next to the site. Varnish keeps finished pages in memory and answers repeat visits without running PHP again. Memcached and Redis hold data the application asks for often, such as query results and sessions.
The plan table lists them per plan: one instance of each on the two larger shared plans, with 16 MB of memory each, and "Optional" on the two smaller plans. Every KVM VPS plan lists one instance of each as well.

Why it matters
Why it matters
A dynamic page that rebuilds the same result on every request spends PHP and database time on work that did not change. A cache answers that request from memory instead.
The instances are the switch and the memory is the size. If a cache fills up, more memory for Varnish, Memcached, or Redis is sold as a separate add-on.

Open the hosting plans to see which plan includes the instances. On a plan that lists them as optional, add them on the add-ons list.
After the account is live, you connect the application to the cache from the control panel.
